Eye care in Kolkata with Hope Foundation
This year we are returning to India to provide primary eye care in the slums of Kolkata.
Last year we saw over 1000 people in a week. This year, we are hoping to do the same again. Working with the Hope Foundation we are able to correct the vision of people from the slums, who otherwise would have no access to care. By correcting their vision it allows them the opportunity to engage in education and enter employment .
During the checks we are also able to refer patients to the Hope hospital which can treat them for more serious eye conditions. Which left untreated could eventually lead to blindness.Further accelerating the poverty cycle.
This initiative completely transforms our patients lives and in many cases restoring their vision.
This year 3 of us from Specsavers Ennis working with the Hope Foundation to continue this initiative in Kolkata. Riya Rose Mathew (Optometrist), Sharon Egan (Optometrist) and Sean Power (Director) .
Along with this John O'Farrell (Optometrist Director) will be running the Dublin Marathon on Sunday 29th Of October to raise funds for the Hope Foundation.
All donations go directly to the Hope foundation.
