We are Adrian and Joshua, two teens going on a mission to Colombia, trying to make a difference in the lives of 60 families living in very harsh conditions. "Small actions, Big impact,"

B’nai B’rith of South Florida is happy to provide volunteer hours to high school students for making donations.

"B'nai B'rith of South Florida's youth leaders are embarking on this remarkable mission to change lives. With the support of the Colombian Foundation of Community Services, we are determined to make a positive impact. Your generous donations will help provide these families with the support they desperately need to ease their Heart-wrenching struggles."

These families facing malnutrition and extremely harsh conditions in rural Colombia have touched our hearts. As privileged teens living in a wonderful country, we see all the struggles the families face. Kids go to bed hungry and in less-than-desirable conditions, we just know we have to do something to help. But we invite you to see yourself, these are only some of the families you will help with your donations:

Violeta Granados and her children live in extreme poverty. Violeta is a single mother. She works selling candy, and garbage bags on the street. Many days they don't have enough to eat. The children are malnourished. They need support for housing, food, health, and a computer for studying.

Carolina Mancipe, a single mother of five children who works as a maid but struggles to pay the bills and cover the family's basic needs such as rent, food, and transportation. Adding to her struggles, one of Carolina's daughters is suffering from a rare autoimmune disorder called "Pemphigus vulgaris", that causes blistering and sores on the skin and mucous membranes.

Through the support of the Colombian government and donors from the Colombian Foundation of Community Services, Carolina was able to acquire an unfinished apartment in Tocancipá. It was delivered unfinished because that is how social interest housing works in Colombia. Due to Carolina's limited financial resources, the apartment remains unfinished and inhabitable. As a result, Carolina and her family continue to live in a rented room in Soacha, one of the most dangerous areas in Bogota. They need urgent support to finish their apartment and make it livable, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Olga Lucía Ducuara is a single mother of 6 who works tirelessly doing whatever she can to survive and care for her kids. But her home is in dire need of repair. The roof is made of flimsy plastic and eternit tiles, and when it rains, water pours in through the fasteners and profiles, which puts her family in danger of getting sick and losing everything they have.

Martha Montañez: A single mother raising two kids. She works very hard cleaning in a building to provide for her family. Despite her struggles, she is in the process of receiving a social interest apartment, but it's delivered unfinished. She is required to pay monthly installments of 600,000 Colombian pesos (USD $129) which she cannot afford. She desperately needs to obtain the funds to make the apartment habitable so that she and her children can have a decent place to live and enough money for food. They now live in a studio, in a studio, in a dangerous neighborhood.

Martha Luz Zúñiga is an elderly woman who lives with her daughter Yeis Paola Villa and her three grandchildren. They have a schizophrenic son who lives in the same property but has to pay rent separately. This family is living in extremely poor conditions, in a rental that is inhumane. They face numerous challenges and great needs. They require support in every aspect of their lives. Martha Luz also cares for a grandson from another one of her sons, who was abandoned by his parents. The child is a good student but suffers from depression. They live in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Bogota.

Yurani Vanegas is a single mom who faces health issues in her spine. She has two biological kids and 3 girls she had to adopt because their parents left to her care and they abandoned them. Yurani's elderly grandfather also lives with her. Yuraniworks as a domestic worker but they are extremely poor and struggle to pay rent. Despite their difficult circumstances, all the children are students and have a strong desire to improve their situation. However, they live in a bedroom, in a very dangerous and remote area and their living conditions are horrible. The walls of their rooms are made of wood covered with newspaper to prevent the cold from coming in. They need help to provide for their basic needs and improve their living conditions.

Angie Bernal Fonseca is a single mother of two children. With the help of the Foundation, she completed a Veterinary Technician program, she is very talented but even though she works really hard, she is struggling to pay off two loans and improve her family's quality of life, she used some of that money to make her home habitable. The constant worry of rising interest rates and the threat of losing her small house hangs over her every moment.

Vanessa López, even though she was able to obtain a social interest house, she struggles to make ends meet for her family. Her partner knows construction but is unemployed and her low salary is not enough, they were forced to take out three bank loans, leaving her overwhelmed with debt. Their situation is critical as they are struggling to keep up with the payments and are at risk of losing their humble home.

These are just a few, but there are several families needing help, kids going to bed hungry, and parents who were severely affected by the pandemic, struggling every day to survive and provide for their families. Please help us with your donations, even a little bit can make a big impact!

Please keep these families in your thoughts and extend your love and support to this campaign and these families in need. We appreciate your generous contribution and would like to thank you in advance for your support.

This mission journey is an important part of B’nai B’rith of South Florida's commitment to supporting our two young leaders and giving back to communities around the world.
