Expenses and Chemo treatments for Michael Alcorta

Hello family and friends,

I , Mercedez, am putting together this fundraiser for my husband Michael.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this. Many of you do not know what has been going on in my family’s lives these past few months, most importantly in my husband’s. If you know him, he is very discreet and never likes to ask for help, on the contrary, he loves to be the giver himself. That’s one thing the kids and I love about him! Well back in January he was injured pretty badly at work which led us to discover that he had testicular cancer. We were shocked as we did not expect this. Michael is strong, healthy and hardly ever sick. His doctor quickly scheduled surgery for the beginning of May and he has been recovering at home since then. We assumed that would be all he had to deal with. The pathology report came back and confirmed testicular cancer. He is now in remission but with recommendations from his oncologist he will have to undergo some chemo treatments to help lower the chances of the cancer returning. During this time he is not able to work because he is still recovering from surgery as well as the injury he sustained at work. He is starting PT and they said that this will also be a slow process before they recommend him returning to work. We really don’t want to be a burden to anyone and ask for help but unfortunately we are at that place as Michael is the sole provider for our family.
