Expanding Performing Arts at Cedar

The success of the introduction of the steel pans at Cedar last year injected fresh enthusiasm and momentum to our music programmes, and revealed huge demand for involvement across the community with students, staff, parents and the wider community engaging enthusiastically!

We would love to see that growth continue and be able to provide additional culturally relevant community-based programs, such as a fungi band and dance troupes.

The biggest limiting factor on growth is available space for performing arts instruction and performance. Cedar currently has only one music room to accommodate all primary and secondary music classes and clubs, and instrument storage space has become a pressing issue.

In order to continue to grow these initiatives, we desperately need to re-develop the current music room to accommodate a second floor, forming a dedicated Performing Arts Centre at Cedar. The proposed plan adds a flexible tuition space upstairs, while adding storage and a stage for performances which opens onto the basketball area, providing a dedicated stage for music, dance and drama.

The estimated costs of construction, as well as equipping the performance area and adding significantly to our instrument collection, runs to approximately $250,000. As Cedar is a non-profit organisation which runs on very fine operating margins, we rely on fundraising initiatives to realise capital projects and development.

We hope you will help us with this important development so we can continue to provide excellent facilities for tuition and performance, and can expand our elective and after school clubs with culturally relevant community-based programs which enrich not only our students, but our wider community as a whole.

All funds raised will be transferred to the school, and used to develop and equip the proposed Performing Arts Centre at Cedar.

Thank you!

Director of Cedar International School

How the funds will be used (be specific as possible):

To equip and increase the size of the music room to accommodate a second floor.

If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising money for or use the money on their behalf:

All funds raised online via GoFundMe will first be withdrawn to Mr. Crawford's personal US Bank account, and then be transferred to the school's bank account outside of GoFundMe, and ring fenced for the performing arts fund.
