Expand Play Opportunities for Disabled Youth
Tax deductible
Play is more than a pastime; it's the key that unlocks a child's imagination and potential. For neurodivergent youth, play takes on even greater significance. It becomes a gateway to building crucial social and emotional skills, fostering confidence and independence, and providing them with a sense of belonging to a caring community.
Extreme Kids & Crew provides a brave space for neurodivergent youth to engage in public play spaces, where they can shed the labels and stereotypes society often places upon them. Here, they are seen and known not as different, but as unique individuals with their own dreams and desires.
In collaboration with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, our Rock Band Club welcomes young neurodivergent musicians to a judgment-free space where their uniqueness is celebrated and encouraged. Together, they become a community, a band — the DeFunkies — who recently played on the teen stage at Brooklyn Jams.
September is around the corner, and with families gearing up for the school year, we want to bring our dynamic programming into classrooms in even more boroughs. Help us to expand unique and dynamic programs like Rock Band throughout New York so that neurodivergent youth and their families have the opportunity to build community through play.
Extreme Kids & Crew was also recently named a finalist in the NYC Imagine Awards in the DEIA category, an honor that recognizes our commitment to inclusivity in our mission and programming. We are proud of this recognition and believe it underscores the importance and impact of our work. Help us bring these values to even more families this year.
