Ewing Flood

My name is Sharon Lane Rabbiosi, I am trying to raise monies for my sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Joe Ewing.

In the early morning hours of January 10th my sister and brother-in-law, Joe and Ann Ewing were abruptly awakened by their neighbor who informed them that the slough in the back of their home had broken the levee. They were told they had to evacuate immediately as the water inside the home was rapidly rising by the minute.

In their urgency, they were forced to leave with only a few belongings. Luckily, they were able to get their two dogs and most of Joe's medications (Joe had many health issues). Unfortunately, in the urgency, they were forced to leave behind a lifetime of treasures. The baby pictures, irreplaceable antiques and family mementos, and every other personal item they owned. Sadly, they have lost most of their clothing, housewares, furniture and appliances. By the time they made it out of the residence, the water had risen from ankle to knee depth and proceeded to crest above the countertops within a few hours.

They are blessed to have their son Bryan (Ronnie) and his wife Kris living close by. Ann, Joe and their dogs have been staying with Bryan & Kris who have shown them the most amazing love and support as they try to navigate this nightmare. Ann and Joe have said they are eternally grateful for Bryan and Kris and all they have done and continue to do to help them.

They have lost approximately 95% of all their personal and household items. They do have flood insurance, which will help some, but unfortunately, the insurance is not going to be enough to do the repairs needed, as it will only cover a percentage of what they will need. Their homeowner's insurance has denied their claim because the damage was caused by a flood. Also, they have not gotten any assurance from FEMA for assistance.

They are going to need interim housing for a significant amount of time while they can repair their home. The expenses are significant and the added burden of paying rent during this repair process is overwhelming.

A little help will go a very long way in getting them temporary housing while the repairs are being made. As difficult as this is to do, we are asking for financial support to help the Ewings repair their home. Every little bit helps and our family will be very grateful for your support.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Sharon, Ann's sister. She is on Facebook if you don't have her direct contact information. We all thank you for your support.
