Help Andy Fix His Car to Keep Supporting the Community

Help Andy fix his car so he can continue distributing to families in need and help keep his neighbors safe!

Andy is an artist and activist who has been consistently and fully dedicated to caring for his community in Minneapolis. All photos above are his originals. He has been out helping with grocery deliveries and school patrol, leading the installation of dashcams in the cars of legal ICE observers to help document their actions, and connecting with and caring for community members every day.

Andy's car broke down last week, and without it he cannot work and is low on funds with an increasing amount of time needing to be spent helping provide for and protect the community. Please consider donating what you can - folks on the ground are running on empty and they need our support, even a little goes a long way.

Andy responded to the needs of his neighbors in the wake of the murder of George Floyd in 2020. He started a food pantry at the Bahá’í Center near George Floyd Square (GFS) in the first week of June 2020 to help feed those in need - He passed the logistical coordination on to friends so that he could put some of his other skills to use and attend to additional needs in the community like street medic trainings, defense work, and coordinating mural projects for the community immediately surrounding GFS. The food pantry ran until most people were able to get back on their feet after the main surge of COVID. This closed down in 2022, and he was then able to continue his work as an art teacher, including utilizing art to help spread awareness of the events unfolding around police brutality, as well as accompanying others to understand how they too can use their talents to serve in their communities.

In 2023, he gave away or sold the majority of his possessions and moved down to Costa Rica so that he and a friend could start a respite house for people on the front lines of the civil rights movement to be able to come down and get rest for free. Months into this, he had a family emergency and had to come back to take care of his father, who later passed away.

Recently, his family started a fundraiser to get legal observers dash cams and SD cards in order to stay as safe as possible and document the atrocities being committed in their communities, as federal agents continue to act against these communities with violence, illegal action, and impunity.

Andy consistently gives all he can back to the community around him, and could use our help this time to get back on his feet. Thank you for your support. All power to the people.
