Evie's time in hospital

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Tracy, and my wonderful niece Evie is very poorly in hospital. I hope to raise money to help my sister Shelley and my brother-in-law James. Evie has been in hospital with an inoperable brain tumour since the beginning of August. I won't give too many details as it can be upsetting for some of our younger members of the family if they were to read this page, but feel free to contact me if you would like to know anymore. Doctors first told Shelley that Evie's headaches were migraines, and it took her pushing and taking her back to doctors before they did a scan and discovered the tumour. It is aggressive and extensive. She is being treated by some of the world's experts in Addenbrooks and they are doing everything they can for her. She is being unbelievably brave and has been such a star throughout it all. She has had 3 operations in 3 weeks, and the chemo has started. All of the treatment is making her feel very ill and sleepy. Since the photo was taken on her 10th birthday, which she spent in hospital, she has not left the ward and is being fed through a feeding tube. At the moment she can only communicate her needs through little noises. This has been a horrendous time for Shelley and James but they have been totally amazing. They don't leave her bedside day and night, apart from spending time with my other niece Jess. They have taken on board the worst news a parent can hear and have been so strong for their girls. Jess has been such a caring big sister and has had a difficult summer holidays being apart from her family alot of the time. James has not been able to work for over a month and as he is self employed this means no pay. It has been an expensive time for them with costs associated with a long hospital stay including parking, driving backwards and forwards to see Jess and buying food in the hospital while still paying the bills in a home they aren't able to live in at the moment. Unfortuanately Evie is too unwell to be able to come home in between treatment like many of the other children on the ward are able to do, so we have no idea how long they will continue to be in hospital for. We have all been there for them, and they have really appreciated all the support from family and friends. We can't give them what they all long for, which is to be home again as a family, but if I can raise some money for them it will take away one worry of mounting costs. Shelley and James were reluctant when I suggested setting up this page as they know how difficult everyone is finding the economic situation at the moment. That is why we ask that, if you would like to donate, you only give what you can afford, and we know your thoughts are with the family even if you can't donate at this time. If there is any amount left after they have covered their costs, and hopefully been able to do something lovely together as a family when Evie is feeling better, we will donate it to a charity of Evie's choice.
