Eviction Support for Clianda and her family
Donation protected
Last night Clianda Florence-Yarde, her three children and three dogs were forcibly removed from their home in 19 degree weather during a global pandemic. The Rochester Police Force showed up in force despite the fact that Clianda had no where to go due to low vacancy of affordable and quality housing in the City of Rochester.
Clianda has incurred tremendous costs from her fight against this landlord.
- In December 2019, she and her 3 children had to flee the home to a hotel for 2 weeks due to the rodent infestation for $1300.
- When the landlord was unresponsive to solving the rodent issue she had to spend $600 for bait and traps
- Clianda wants to move! She is actively looking for a place and has spent over $300 on application fees for apartments
- When that perfect place is found to get her out of this situation (as she is now technically homeless and staying with friends and family) we are looking to cover the estimated $400 in moving costs
- Not to mention security deposit and first months rent, Christmas next week and all of her damaged belongings from the rodents...
Please give what you can to support this amazing family who stood up for all families across the City of Rochester and the State. We need a universal eviction moratorium now to prevent this from happening to anyone else. We need stronger code enforcement policies to protect tenants from slum conditions. And we need to come together as a community to demand it!
