Grassroots Hero Foundation (Everyday Hero Fund)

The Grassroots Hero Foundation (previously Everyday Hero Fund for Ukraine) supports exceptional volunteers and organizations that are making everyday differences to children and people living and suffering under terrible conditions in Ukraine. It is more than simply donating; it is about creating a sense of relationship and connectivity by investing in people. We do this through community partners who are trusted and know how best to make meaningful differences to those who are most in need. Because the Grassroots Hero Foundation is entirely voluntary, there are no administrative or other costs. All money fundraised from this page goes directly to children and people in need in Ukraine. These are some of the ways that we are making a difference:

• Regular deliveries of fresh fruit and other foodstuffs for hospital patients and elderly pensioners

• Non-food items for displaced families like toiletries and hygiene products

• Medicines, canes and other medical for impoverished pensioners

• Toys, books and puzzles for children of different ages

• Materials for art and recreation activities to help children cope with the traumas of war.

• Furniture for a women’s shelter supporting mothers escaping domestic violence.

Who is David Hutton?

For the past 20 years, I have had the privilege of supporting people and communities affected by wars and disasters around the world. This includes ten years with the United Nations in the Middle East and humanitarian missions in such places as Pakistan, Jordan, Chad, Ingushetia, East Timor and Banda Aceh. During six months in Ukraine, I witnessed the suffering imposed by the war but also the incredible volunteerism and resiliency of the Ukrainian people. From this came the Everyday Hero Fund and then the Grassroots Hero Foundation which supports unsung volunteers and small organizations as they make a difference in the lives of children and people of all ages.
