Everybody Fitz

Hi Everyone,

I want to get some Melrose youth dances up and running! To be able to do so we need down payments for the location, insurance, DJ and supplies. If there is leftover money it will be used to host the first open house to learn more about Everybody Fitz.

Everybody Fitz is a State approved nonprofit out of Melrose. I am currently waiting for the 501(c)(3) status and I hope to use this money in the mean time. I intend to apply for grants once the 501(c)(3) status goes through.

The specific purposes of Everybody Fitz is to create a safe space for ALL individuals.

Everybody Fitz will be partnering with other local organizations and agencies to bring more mental health resources in. There are too many gaps. There will be safe spaces allowing people to gather information, talk with others and at times specialists about similar issues including but not limited to mental health.

Also, continuing to create events and spaces that are an all-inclusive atmosphere catering to everybody.

I did a survey a few months ago asking some questions about how Melrose residents feel about mental health and the resources that are here. Eighty-five people took this survey and they were between the ages of 15 and 70 with the largest amount between 28 and 44. Just a few statistics from this are:

• 91.3% of residents feel like there are not enough mental health resources in or near Melrose

• 48.8% have been on the waitlist for mental health services for an extended period.

• 62.2% wish there was more educational content on mental health available in a group setting and would participate in person if so.

Mental health already affects so many and could affect any of us, whether as individuals or through friends and loved one’s. This community driven positive action can help. Thank you in advance for any financial help! And thank you to everyone who has encouraged me and helped thus far!
