Hace más de un año, mi madre fue atropellada por un autobús del gobierno en nuestro país. Desde entonces, nadie ha asumido la responsabilidad del accidente. Como resultado, ella sufrió una fractura grave en el fémur y tuvo que ser sometida a una cirugía de emergencia.

Durante su hospitalización, contrajo una bacteria intrahospitalaria muy agresiva llamada Pseudomonas, que aún hoy permanece en su cuerpo. Esta infección ha impedido su recuperación y le ha causado un deterioro progresivo y muy doloroso. Mi mamá no ha podido volver a caminar, y ahora su situación es crítica. Necesita ser hospitalizada de manera urgente para recibir tratamiento intravenoso con antibióticos específicos. Cada minuto cuenta para salvar su pierna.

Vivir lejos de ella, aquí en Nueva York, ha hecho esta situación aún más desgarradora. Estoy haciendo todo lo posible para apoyarla desde la distancia, pero los gastos médicos han superado por completo mis capacidades.

My name is Hagni Da Silva, and I’m writing this during one of the most difficult moments of my life.

Over a year ago, my mother was hit by a government bus in our home country. Tragically, no one ever took responsibility for the accident. She suffered a severe femur fracture and had to undergo emergency surgery.

While in the hospital, she contracted a highly aggressive hospital-acquired infection called Pseudomonas, which still remains in her body to this day. This infection has severely hindered her recovery and caused increasing pain and complications. She hasn’t been able to walk since the accident, and her condition has now reached a critical point. She urgently needs to be hospitalized again to receive targeted intravenous antibiotic treatment. Every minute counts to save her leg.

Being far away from her, here in New York, has made this all the more painful. I’m doing everything I can to support her from a distance, but the medical costs have far exceeded my financial ability.

This is why I’m turning to you — humbly and with hope. We are trying to raise $20,000 to cover:
