Every Little Hero Deserves a Chance

On 10th September, our beautiful Alaya was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Finding out this heartbreaking news completely changed our lives as we knew it. Our normal life was turned upside down in an instant, filled with overwhelming emotions, long days of treatment, and the uncertainty of what the future would hold.

Staying in the hospital is hard enough without the constant worry and challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis. That’s where Abby’s Heroes stepped in. They offered us so much more than just support—they gave us comfort when we needed it the most. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome and cared for. They provided care packages filled with blankets, toiletries, eye masks, and other essentials to help us settle in.

Abby’s Heroes went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met, always keeping the hospital fridges stocked with dinners, drinks, and snacks for families staying long-term. They even supplied laundry items so we could keep our clothes clean, and once a week, they treated everyone to a Domino’s pizza night—a small tradition that made a world of difference. For Alaya, they brought smiles by gifting her toys and games to keep her spirits up during the long days in treatment. They also organise special days out for the children, giving them a chance to experience a bit of normality and joy amid everything.

Thorney Island Trail Run on 2nd November, South Downs Trail Run on 9th November, covering nearly 60km in total, to raise funds for this life-changing cause. It’s a small way to ensure that more families feel the same love and care we did.
