On 31st July 2021 I am going to make an Everesting attempt. This involves finding a hill and riding up it over and over again until you’ve accumulated the height of Everest (8,848m). I’m attempting this challenge because I want to raise £3,600 for my friend Ed.
Ed is part of our church home group and he is awesome. He has cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user. He was in a wheelchair accident a few years ago and is suffering from terrible back pain. The money will be used to pay for a block of specialist physio that will hopefully bring his pain under control.
Last April, I had emergency back surgery for cauda equina so I'm well aware of how miserable back pain can be.
I have chosen Hill Brow in Liss as the location for my challenge. I will have to ride up and down the hill 113 times. This should take me about 17 hours (it could take longer, it just has to be done in one go without sleeping) and I'll rack up about 330km in the saddle.
If anyone’s concerned, I’ve checked with the consultants at The Royal Marsden and they have said I can do the exercise, but if I feel tired I should “reevaluate”.
Please give as much or as little as you can. If we exceed our target then we can help Ed even more .
Big love, Jesse Baines
