Everest Base Camp Trek for KindHeART

In May 2024, I travelled to Peru and successfully completed the 43km Camino Inka Trail expedition with Intrepid. The trip not only brought out my love for trekking, but it was also an eye-opening experience to the work that the Intrepid foundation did to improve the lives of individuals who faced impoverished living situations.

A few months ago, I set myself a goal to complete the Nepal trekking expedition to the Everest Base Camp. I will be completing the expedition on 3rd May 2025, having undergone the 15 day trek with Intrepid. Inspired by their foundation, I decided to complete this trek, and also give back to the communities that face the hardship and require the much needed funds to help improve their situations.

My goal is to raise GBP 5,364 over the next three months, leading up to the Easter Weekend of 2025 when my expedition commences. Why 5,346? Well... that's the altitude at which the Everest Base Camp sits! I am therefore raising awareness and the funds for KindHeART, a charity organisation founded and based in London, the United Kingdom.

KindHeART is an organisation that raises much needed funds to help transform the lives of children, young adults and young women. The organisation also aims to help change communities, prevent poverty, provide relief from poverty, and improve the quality of lives of children and young women who suffer as a result of their situation with no hope to better themselves without outside assistance.

Since 2017, KindHeART has changed the lives of hundreds of people, giving their recipients a brighter tomorrow. Some of their most notable works have included:

(i) Supplying a year's worth of sanitary towels to 1000 schoolgirls.

(ii) Donating 100 wheelchairs to children with cerebral palsy, and giving them a chance to thereby attend school.

(iii) Equipping 40 children with aesthetic legs through the Jaipur Foot Programme in India.

(iv) Sponsoring 121 orphaned children in Kenya right through completion of their primary education.

(v) Providing 12 sewing machines and tailoring materials to a tailoring school for women in the slums of Dandora in Kenya.

So why have I chosen KindHeART? I have been a first hand witness to the works and activities that this charity performs, and the members of the organisation ensure that each and every cause is personally vetted by them. KindHeART ensures that they work with individuals who they are sure have faith in on the ground to deliver their projects. The organisation ensures that all donations and funds raised from their events are distributed in full with virtually no administration costs.

KindHeART's aim is to brighten the lives of all children, including those suffering as a result of terminal illness or being abandoned and having to fend for themselves, and I am proud to raise funds for their causes.
