There are two things that stir my passion.

Mountains.... Big ones.....

And Mission.

It is no wonder then that I have decided to embark on a mission to eliminate food poverty, by climbing mountains.

Although it isn't just any mountain. No. Its Everest. Well at least to base camp, which is no small feat considering I am only 7 years old. Yes, Everest base camp is a 15 day hike, 5364m in elevation, and comes with all the trimmings. One of which is altitude sickness, a real problem. But I am one for a challenge. Why do something easy like the 3 peaks, which isn't really a challenge for me, when I could push myself to the extreme. Especially when there are people living on the margins living in their own extreme.

This is because food poverty is a real issue, especially with my age. Its why I am so passionate. Especially when considering that where I live, Derby, was described as in a "significantly worse position" than the rest of the UK when we talk of food poverty. I am so lucky that I don't have this problem, but then I thought, "Why shouldn't it be my problem? Why not do something about it?" And this is why I am raising money for Reach Community Grocers. Its now my problem too!

So a little bit about Reach Community Grocers:

"Reach Community Grocers is a charity that helps families and individuals struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis and gives them access to food for a fraction of the real cost at supermarkets.

But that’s not all. Members can also access free support and courses related to budgeting, healthy cooking and employment skills.

“It is like a food bank; however, it gives dignity to those using it by operating on a membership basis whereby you can get £30 worth of food for only £6. Rather than simply a handout, people can use the shop with dignity.”

So there it is.
