Eva's Place Roma

About This Project

Eva's Place has been operating for seven years in Toowoomba as a compassionate and effective support centre for women experiencing a crisis pregnancy, and now it's time for Roma to have its very own branch right here, to serve women and families from around the Maranoa district.



The successful perinatal program developed by Eva's Place comes alongside women from conception to bub's first birthday, providing women and teens with professional non-directive counselling (including counselling for pregnancy loss), a perinatal education and mentoring program, parenting skills workshops, access to free baby essentials and a safe space for women to be heard and cheered on the journey into motherhood.

Highly trained staff and volunteers often have a background in medicine, nursing or midwifery, counselling and parenting.

Eva's Place advocates for clients, offers individualised support to suit their needs and provides practical help.

Use Of Funds

$58,000 TIPPING POINT GOAL

This is the bare minimum we need to get the doors open, pay the rent and have all the set-up costs covered for the first year of serving and empowering women with crisis pregnancies in the Maranoa region. We need to raise this whole amount by the 31st of May 2020 or we won't be able to open doors.

 $68,000 STRETCH GOAL

This is our dream goal, which will not only secure our first year of operations but will enable us to serve our pregnant women with high-quality material aid (such as car seats, cots and prams), make the space really inviting and safe, and train our staff and volunteers to the very highest level.





Rewards

To thank you for your support, the following rewards are available according to the amount you donate. All donations are tax-deductible:

- $50.00 - We’ll send you a beautiful thank you card personally signed by our team at Eva's Place Roma. (Unlimited number available)

- $100.00 - A mention on our Facebook page and your name on our donor wall. Plus reward for $50 level. (Unlimited number available)

- $200.00 - The opportunity to write an encouraging note to our women which will be displayed on the wall at our new centre. Plus rewards for $100 and $50 levels. (Available to first 50 donors at this level)

- $500.00 - We’ll send you two free tickets to our beautiful and inspiring fundraising gala in May. Plus rewards for $100 and $50 levels. (Available to first 30 donors at this level)

- $1,000.00 - We’ll invite you to a sneak peek tour of the premises prior to the official opening day. Includes morning tea and a showbag. You’ll get to meet our core team of volunteers and ask any questions. Plus rewards for $100 and $50 levels. (Available to first 30 donors at this level)

- $2,000.00 - You’ll be invited to an exclusive high-tea with our team and the original Eva’s Place founder from Toowoomba, Juliet Ballinger. Date TBA but planned for July. Plus rewards for $100 and $50 levels. (Available to first 15 donors at this level)

- $10,000.00 - A plaque with your name on it on the wall of our new centre in Roma. Plus rewards from all other levels. (Available to first 10 donors at this level)

After you donate, you will receive a thank you message from us, also asking you to send us your contact details so that we can deliver your reward(s) to you. If you prefer not to receive a reward you can also let us know at that time.



How Your Donation Helps

As a guide, these are what your donations could pay for:

   -  $50 donation pays for one month’s supply of mum-to-be and new mum packs

   -  $120 covers the cost of our incentive program for one woman for the year, where she is given a large baby item (cot, pram, baby carrier or car seat) if she attends appointments

   -  $500 pays for nappies and formula for one year

   -  $750 pays for some furniture for our centre, such as couches, tables, shelving and chairs

   -  $1,500 purchases a computer for our new centre

   -  $2,000 pays for some of the high-quality training and education costs for our consultants and mentors

   -  $6,000 covers set up costs for our new centre such as handyman work and signage.

Our Team

Kym Brock

Hi my name is Kym and I have four beautiful children ages 16 to 23.  Being a mum has been a very exciting adventure with surprises around every corner.  Our third child was born 8 1/2 weeks early.  With two young children, a premie baby and no immediate family support, I was so thankful to all my adopted mums in Roma who mentored and supported me throughout my motherhood.   I have a passion to be there for other mums in the same way and feel Eva’s Place is a great organisation to be able to do that.



Dan and Carissa Gill

We have our sons James and Elijah with baby number three due in July. Dan is a pastor at Roma Church of Christ, with a background in chaplaincy and youth counselling. I am a full-time mum and I run one of the playgroups in Roma. We support Eva's Place because we love empowering parents in their roles and equipping new mums for their amazing task ahead.



Niomie and Damian Corkett

Niomie and Damian are our resident high school sweethearts who are in their 22nd year of married bliss together and have seven incredible children aged between 20 and 8 years. Niomie and Damian are lead pastors of Heart Church Roma which includes running the Mainly Music program in Roma which is hugely beneficial for both parents and children in their early years. Niomie and Damian have a heart and passion to see everyone reach their full potential.



Dr Nat Cooksley

I'm a mother two beautiful kids, almost four years old and 20 months old. I'm currently working in Roma as a GP with an interest in women's health, infant health and palliative care.  I'm excited about Eva's Place because I've seen this type of holistic and long-term model of care be hugely beneficial to women entering motherhood in Cairns where we used to live.



Jacqui Balin

I am the second eldest of 4,  I’ve grown up on cattle properties my entire life so I’m a country girl at heart, I am super passionate about the launch of Eva’s place because I’ve seen first hand the limited options for women when it comes to pregnancy especially in rural areas. I am super exited about implementing this option of a safe environment where women can come and feel no judgment and most importantly feel safe and not alone. 



Drs Laura and Michael Pfeffer

We are the Pfeffer family. We have been blessed with two beautiful girls and we work as doctors at Roma hospital. We are passionate about Eva's place because we know firsthand that the need is great and we want to be a part of the solution.
