Hi, my name is Eva and I’m 13 years old.

In July 2027, I hope to travel to Borneo with Camps International to volunteer on community and environmental projects. It’s something I’ve dreamed about for a long time and I’ve worked hard to earn this opportunity.

For the past 2 years, I have been struggling with Chronic Pain Syndrome and I couldn’t walk without crutches for 5 months. Earlier this year, my life changed again when I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease as well. Some days are harder than others but I’ve decided that my conditions will not decide what I can or can’t do so I have been working hard to regain strength for the past year. I still have dreams, plans and a big heart for helping others.

Prior to my diagnosis, I was a competitive artistic gymnast competing for Yorkshire and my sport was everything to me. Because of my diagnosis, I had to quit my sport which really affected me and I struggled with my mental health for a while as going from being able to do everything to not being able to walk was frustrating. Having to miss out on lots of things makes me want to show people that no matter what, you can do anything.

I am fundraising £5,000 to take part in this expedition. Anything raised above this amount will be donated to Crohn’s & Colitis UK to help fund research, support families and make life a little easier for other young people living with Crohn’s like me.

I hope this challenge shows that even when life feels unfair or difficult we can still choose to be brave, kind and hopeful.
