Evans Howard Memorial
Donation protected
The Brentwood Historical Society is raising money to place a memorial for the residents of Evans Howard Place. The Evans Howard neighborhood occupied the area of the present day Brentwood Promenade. In the early 1900's, the area was settled by people working at the old Evans Howard Brickyard.
This was a proud community of mainly Black residents who worked hard to establish a nice place for their families. They looked out for each other, attended school and church in the neighborhood, and became an important part of the Brentwood community.
We would like to have a permanent monument honoring the families who lived in Evans Howard Place from 1907-2007. It's time for the Brentwood community and the Brentwood High School community to show our appreciation and honor these families, many who still have ties to Brentwood.
The monument will be on the property of Brentwood Promenade on Rose Avenue. We appreciate the support of Site Properties who manage the Brentwood Promenade. Thank you for your donation.
