Hi, my name is John-David Shackelford. I have been a coach and friend to Evaniel Johnson for the past 7 years.

I have started this GoFundMe to help Evaniel Johnson, a now single father to two precious children Sloane (5) and Zola (3 mos), after the unexpected passing of his beloved partner / wife, Aerica Dodds.

On October 4, 2023 Aerica had a C-section and gave birth to their second child, Zola. A few weeks later she visited the ER with fever and chills, a visit that concluded with doctors unable to identify her issue. A couple of weeks later another doctor started her on antibiotics for a possible infection. Shortly after that she was admitted to the hospital for a heart infection. During her month stay in the hospital she had open heart surgery which went well, but her condition started to decline . On the morning of January 3rd she went in for a second surgery to have fluid removed from her heart & lungs. Complications occurred during the surgery and Aerica passed leaving behind her husband and two beautiful children.

In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, we rally around Evaniel as he navigates through this time of profound grief.
