My name is Roba Abumiddain, a 30-year-old Palestinian-currently residing in Austria. While I currently live in Austria, my mom, 4 siblings, sister in law and 2 nieces reside in Gaza. I was a social worker who has lived through the various wars and escalations in Gaza-in 2008,2012,and 2014. Just as I was starting to recover from the PTSD of the previous conflicts, the recent war brought annihilation and death. I find myself compelled to seek your urgent assistance.

As the war on Gaza began after October 7th, my whole family members became isolated in (Al-Nuseirat) area. Our home became a shelter for relatives seeking refuge and escaping the missiles falling on their homes. Due to the communication disruption, I have been able to contact my family less than five times in the past 6 months. And everytime I manage to get a hold of them, I am devastated by the lack of food, water, and basic necessities they have to endure.

Ironically enough, I have a Masters Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Austria. I reached out to many government and humanitarian organizations I have been working/volunteering with to assist me evacuate my family to Egypt, all in vain. The situation is dire, as some of my family members seek medical support but are unable to reach hospitals due to the isolation and the constant bombardment of hospitals and their surroundings. My nieces are extremely traumatized and have lost lots of weight. I am concerned for their mental and physical well-being. The only way to help them is to leave Gaza to receive the necessary medical care and attention abroad.

Despite my relentless efforts to contact multiple NGO’s , nobody has helped me for the past 6 months. The only way for people in Gaza to evacuate is through an Egyptian company called “Ya Hala”, requiring a hefty fee of 5000$ for adults and 2500$ for children. As an empowered and financially independent woman, this sum is utterly beyond my means. Hence, I am compelled to urgently launch this campaign.

Therefore, I am launching this campaign to evacuate my immediate family to safety. The expenses are to evacuate the following:

My mom (5000$)

4 adult brothers (5000$x4)

Sister in law (5000$)

2 nieces (2500$x2)

35000 USD to evacuate my family

5000 USD for transportation expenses+ initial expenses the first couple of weeks upon arrival to Egypt.

I understand the value of every donation and the effort behind it. I assure you that all funds will be strictly used for the evacuation of my family. I will personally bear any additional expenses incurred.
