Hello everyone,

My name is Carys and I am reaching out on behalf of the Al Hamss family, whose lives have been shattered by the ongoing conflict in Gaza. One member is a close friend, whose life I have seen ruined by the inescapability of the destruction and the agony of watching his family suffer.

They are desperately trying to escape the violence and have a chance to live a normal life. We can make this happen.

This is not a typical war but a nightmare that has befallen the intergenerational Al Hamss family. We are seeking to evacuate Abdel Halim, Bassema, Kareem, Saher, Kayed, Rawan, their spouses and five grandchildren, who are supporting each other to survive.

Before the war, the family enjoyed a beautiful life by modest means. Abdel Halim is a retired public servant. He has been diagnosed with cancer and was given permission to receive intensive treatment prior to the war, in Jerusalem. He must urgently continue chemotherapy, which has been halted due to the destruction of hospitals and total collapse of the medical sector. He is currently unable to evacuate but has been accepted to receive treatment in Turkey.

All the family's sons work tirelessly to provide for their families. One, injured by gunfire, does his utmost to support his loved ones. Despite their efforts, the family is struggling due to limited employment and aid entering Gaza. It is crucial that we support them to ensure their survival and provide a future for all the children. One grandchild, in his twenties, is blind due to a congenital defect, making him particularly vulnerable to missiles and gunfire. Another grandchild has congenital medical issues with his diaphragm and also requires medical treatment. Baby Aylool was born during the war and has not known anything else. She deserved to enter this world without the terror of falling bombs.

Displacement and Chance of Survival:

Since the destruction of their home, they have been displaced multiple times, moving from one relative's house to another, and sometimes seeking refuge in different areas. The family is now scattered across different governorates, with Abdel Halim, Bassema, and Rawan living separately from the rest of the family. It took weeks to locate Manar and her child, since connectivity was cut off.

The cost of evacuating one person from Gaza is around 8000 USD, a sum the family simply does not have. We need to raise a total of 95,000 GBP or 120,000 USD in order for the family to evacuate.
