ET's 4th annual sock drive - with a kick!
Donation protected
About four years ago, I was leaving an event in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. As I was walking to my car, I noticed a homeless gentleman sleeping out in the cold with his feet uncovered. I took my jacket off, placed it over his feet, and made up my mind that I was going to do something. In a matter of weeks, I assembled a team of about 12 volunteers and put together a sock a drive where we collected over 300 pairs of socks and distributed in downtown Jacksonville. The following year, the team doubled in volunteers, leading to the cause to grow bigger, collecting over 700 pairs of socks as well as kits filled with essential items. Year three was the biggest. With over 70 volunteers, $3,000.00 in donations and over 1,500 pairs of socks, face masks, hand sanitizer, and other items.
