I am an ETHS teacher who had this marvelous young person in my chemistry class a few years ago. She was the recipient of the award for outstanding achievement in chemistry that year for her impeccable preparation and reproducible results in the lab. Being the total pro she is, she went on to make and sell her own cosmetics while in high school as part of an entrepreneurship program.
She was a senior in the spring of 2020; hanging out in my office daily until she wasn't. Episodes of violence and terror punctuated her pandemic experience, but in spite of this, she completed a licensing program to become an aesthetician. Because she owes the school money, they are withholding her transcripts, which prevents her from taking her test and getting licensed so that she can work. All she wants right now is to work doing what she went to school for.
Her story is one of courage, strength and determination in the face of unimaginable tragedy. Please help us to help her rebuild her young life with a new career!
