Ethan's Volunteering Trip to Africa
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Ethan and I'm a Calday Grange Grammar school student from the Wirral. This fundraising is to support me to go to Kenya; I want to volunteer my services to the Masai tribe and other organisations, and villages, in the areas of Nairobi, Tsavo, and Mombasa over the summer of 2026.
I will help build classrooms and classroom furniture, like desks, for school children that would otherwise be sat on the floor to learn. While at the village, we'll help to install fresh water tanks at the local school and build housing.
I'll be spending time working with women's groups to help prevent things such as child/arranged marriages and informing about sexual health, and learning about the local culture and customs.
As well as this, I'll be working with organisations that help the African wildlife, by digging water holes for the elephants to help them through the dry season, help with the maintenance of the Rhino Sanctuaries, and de-worming goats!
I'll be helping make elephant deterrents to protect local crops, which helps reduce elephant poaching, and increases crop production for villages to eat.
While I'm there I'm really looking forward to playing football with the local children, obtaining a PADI scuba diving qualification, and learning some Swahili!
I want to use my time off in the summer to make a difference.
