On the 18th March 2023, our world was ripped apart as our beautiful and brave little boy, Ethan, aged 2 and half, passed away in his Mummy and Daddy’s arms having been taken ill just 72 hours earlier.
Ethan, was initially taken to Frimley Park Hospital, but was shortly transferred in an ambulance dedicated to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, to Southampton University hospital, where he was placed under the 24-hour supervision of the amazing team within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Southampton is the lead center in South Central England. The unit, which looks after 950 to 1,000 patients per year from across southern and central England, is the sixth largest PICU in the UK by number of admissions, with children referred to them from hospitals as far afield as Plymouth, Milton Keynes and the Channel Islands.
Whilst the pain of losing Ethan will never go away, we are focusing on doing something positive for the ward by fundraising for the Friends of PICU charity.
We are fundraising to help towards the cost of renovation of the family accommodation, consisting of bedrooms with en-suites, communal kitchen, lounge and quiet rooms, is situated just a short walking distance across the corridor from the PICU, enabling families to be at their child’s bedside within minutes at whatever time of the day or night. The rooms are now old and in need of urgent renewal and upgrading.
Any donations would be gratefully received and please share this page to help us reach our target.
