Hello, my name is Kaleb, on December 10th 2025 my son Ethan passed away suddenly at home. Ethan was 22 and had Downs Syndrome, he was our special baby who lit up lives all over the country. He was loved by all and didn't have a mean bone in his body, to date (April 12 2026) we still have no idea what happened to our baby boy as we are still waiting on coroner's reports. This has been a devastating time in our lives, he left behind a loving father, mother and 2 brothers that miss miss him dearly, we had spent years saving for him, to make sure he had a chance in life if something ever happened to us. We had government grants set in place to match the contributions we made, we did everything we could with what we had. After Ethans passing the government took back all of the grant money and demanded that the remainder of his savings be used towards the cost of his funeral prior to his government benefits paying anything towards his funeral. He had a very simple funeral, nothing extravagant, rented casket, small gathering at the funeral home, no burial, he was cremated and brought home to his family to be with us. The savings we had built up for him was $4900.00 after the government took back the grants, that was paid towards his funeral, the government was then gracious enough to pay a whole $843.00, the total funeral costs were $9000.00. We are a working class family, we're not rich, he was over 18, our insurance won't help, we're struggling as it is with today's inflation, we need help. We have nowhere to turn, no one to help, we have no way of paying for the rest of our babies funeral. Any help would be great help, our lives and hearts have been ripped apart from his passing, the government has told us us too bad so sad.
