Computer Building Project
Donation protected
My name is Lance, and I am a rising junior in high school. I have been very interested in computers for years. I built a computer for myself and I have helped several friends design and build computers for themselves.
Computer innovation and technology is the way of the present and of the future, and it is imperative that our future generations have access to information and knowledge surrounding Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math ("STEM"). I would like to increase access to information and resources for local students.
Merely giving kids access to a new computer may not be enough to stimulate an interest in computers; however, by teaching young students how computers are built and how they function, we can hope to lead them on a quest for additional knowledge.
This summer I am leading groups of kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, mostly between the ages of ten and twelve, to teach them how to build computers. My goal is to assemble at least five computers which, when completed, will be used in the Boys and Girls Club computer lab. I have already assembled one computer with the group of seven kids in the picture and I would love the opportunity to build more.
Thanks so much for your help!
