Your $30 donation provides a welcome home kit for one individual or family leaving homelessness.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Chicago launched the Expedited Housing Initiative (EHI) in an attempt to quickly house people who are experiencing homelessness and are at higher risk of complications from the virus . The project aims to house 1,250 households within a year period. While people are beginning to get housed, we have noticed that many people are being moved into new apartments without essential supplies such as pots and pans and cleaning supplies. These are expenses that we do not believe EHI participants -- all of whom have limited or no income -- should have to cover themselves. 

This fundraiser will cover the cost of creating welcome home kits for as many households as possible. Each welcome home kit will include a 7 piece pot and pan set, a can opener, mop, broom, dust pan, mop bucket, dish soap, laundry detergent, sponges, cleaning solution, dish towel, and a kitchen knife.  Each welcome home kit costs $30 including GFM fees. 

Your support will make it possible to deliver welcome home kits to new residents, giving them the supplies that they need to cook, clean, and maintain their spaces. These kits are being distributed to homeless individuals and families from the following shelters and social services organizations, with the hopes of expanding our reach as our fundraising efforts increase:
Renaissance Social Services (11 kits as of 2/11/21)
La Casa Norte (6 kits as of 2/11/21)
Calumet Men's Shelter (30 kits as of 2/11/21)
YWLA Women's Shelter (5 kits as of 2/11/21)
