In my capacity as a weightloss and nutrition coach, I was recently asked if I would work with a teen in a bid to help him improve his fitness and body image.
It's important I stress here that I do not charge or receive any remuneration in any sense for the work I do with A, it is purely voluntary.
A is an ex-foster care teen who now lives semi-independently and struggles with social anxiety, body image issues and low self esteem due to the traumas he has experienced in his life, however he is incredibly bright and like a sponge when it comes to his education, new found interest in healthy eating and doing what he needs to do to move on and up in this world!
Recently though, the bike he relied upon to get to college and also to the supermarket, was stolen. As I continue to meet with A and he begins to open up to me, I realise how little he actually has in terms of personal belongings, very few clothes and only one pair of trainers (he's a very talented footballer), no winter coat and I know he desperately needs a laptop (or similar) to carry out his college work on. A hopes to go to University to study Law or Psychology.
After seeking some support from local people in Winchester on the wonderful Next-door app, someone suggested I set up a Go Fund me Account to help buy the things A desperately needs in order to move on in his life and draw a line under his traumatic past.
If you can find a way to help me help A in any way, we would be so grateful. When I tell you even a small donation will be impactful, I kid you not. Many thanks for reading and supporting a wonderful lad who has well and truly fallen through the cracks but whom I'm determined to lift back up!
* Photo is not of A but of my husband and son.
