Hello, my name is Lianne. On the night of Saturday, September 6th, 2025, my one-year-old daughter and I fled our home in the middle of the night to escape a violent domestic situation.
For a long time, my relationship with her father had been toxic and abusive. That day actually started beautifully — we took our daughter to the park, went on a trail walk, and she even met a pony. But when we got home, everything changed.
As I was making dinner with my baby clinging to me, I became overwhelmed and asked for help — something that had always been a source of conflict. Instead of stepping in, he mocked me. The argument escalated, and when I tried to retreat to calm myself, he began recording me. When I pulled out my phone to record too, he punched it out of my hand. From there, the situation turned violent.
He lunged at me, threw me to the floor, slapped me so hard I struggled to speak for days, strangled me, and screamed, “You made me do this.” All of this happened in front of our daughter, who was left crying and terrified.
By the grace of God, my phone kept recording. I managed to get photos of my injuries and later, while he was passed out drunk, I grabbed a few bags and my daughter, and escaped. I went straight to my job, called the police, and he was arrested. He spent two nights in jail before being bailed out by his job.
✨ The Update ✨
Since then, I’ve been fighting hard for stability — and I’m so grateful to share that I finally secured an apartment for me and my baby here in Charlotte. Having a safe home is a huge step forward, and it gives me hope for our future.
But the truth is, I’m still struggling to keep us afloat as I rebuild from scratch. I urgently need help covering:
***$590 for rent due October 4th - I already had some as a deposit, the $590 is the rest of it. (ideally if I could cover the next month or two, so I can focus on securing a better-paying job that would be a huge blessing!) - The rent is $850 in total.
***Babysitting/childcare so I can work and go on interviews
***Car repairs (oil change, tires, basic maintenance)
***Getting my license, registration, and insurance straightened out
Having this support will not only keep a roof over our heads, but also give me the stability to stay on my feet and find better grounding.
My goal is to use this stability as a stepping stone: I plan to find a higher-paying job, return to college, and apply for childcare subsidies so we can keep moving forward. With stable housing and reliable childcare, I can finally give both of my girls the security, presence, and consistency they deserve.
I’m deeply grateful for any help; whether it’s $5, $50, or simply sharing my story. Every little bit keeps us safe and moving toward a brighter future.
