Kia’s story

Hi, my name is Chris, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my brother Nick.

On January 8th, 2025, we lost a beautiful soul—Nick’s wife, Niekia—after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer. Niekia was first diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago. She faced it head-on with incredible strength and resilience, eventually beating it and entering remission. Tragically, in October of 2023, the cancer returned, this time spreading to her brain. Despite her bravery and the best efforts of her doctors, the cancer was incurable. After fighting this for 12 months, Niekia passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Nick has been off work since early November 2024 to be by Niekia’s side during her final months, which has left him without a paycheck for several months. As you can imagine, the financial strain on top of the emotional loss has been immense.

I’m reaching out to our community, friends, and family to ask for support. The funds raised will help ease the financial burden for Nick as he now navigates life without his wife and works to create a stable and loving environment for their son, Eli, and stepdaughter Lilah.
