Please Help Erin & Iraklis Rebuild After the Fire
Donation protected
This is a fundraiser for our dear Erin, and her husband Iraklis, as they rebuild their lives after a horrific fire.
In the early morning hours of Friday, March 24th, the Cavaliere Ristorante on the street level of Erin’s Athens apartment building was attacked by what is assumed to be local gangsters. Witnesses say three men doused the restaurant in oil or gasoline, broke the restaurant windows, and threw something inside that ignited a massive fire (reports of a flare, gunshots and other elements that could start a fire).
Erin’s unit is directly above the restaurant and was quickly engulfed. She was asleep and Iraklis was not in town. She was awakened by screams, and as she looked out her balcony window she saw flames, and the windows then imploded. At this point, she grabbed a few items and ran, but all her exits were blocked by fire. So she went up.
The fire spread quickly and soon she was trapped in an apartment on a higher floor with a neighboring family. They blocked door jams with towels, had towels over their faces, and were lying on the floor to avoid the smoke.
The fire department couldn’t reach them with their ladder nor their basket (was 1m short). After a few hours, the fire brigade was able to reduce the flames and get to them safely via the stairway. She said she thought she was going to die.
Erin is very shaken up, still in shock, but physically fine. And unfortunately, they lost almost everything.
So her family and friends would like to gather donations to help her and Iraklis rebuild (place to live, furniture, clothes, daily supplies, etc - everything we all need to live!). If you have already given funds to Erin's family or myself (Allison), no need to donate here. This is for anyone else who may be looking for an option to support them.
If financial support isn't an option for you, send her some love as she recovers emotionally from this traumatic experience. She needs that the most. ♥️
