Erin Bernath Family Fund

On January 4th our family was delighted to welcome twins Jaxon and Leila to Erin Bernath and Josh Grams. The twins were born via C-section about three weeks early, but did so well in the neo-natal ICU that they went home two weeks before their scheduled date.

However, our joy was short-lived when Erin was rushed to the hospital on January 30th for a heart attack. Despite a complex diagnosis the doctors were able to save her life. Unfortunately, Erin has been diagnosed with spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) a rare condition that occurs when there is bleeding or tearing of the innermost layer of the artery wall. Most people with SCAD are young, healthy, active women; the average age is 42, and it is the #1 cause of heart attacks in new mothers and pregnant women. Erin is recuperating in the hospital but requires a sophisticated medical monitoring and emergency treatment device to get her home to her newborn babies.

With the arrival of the twins Josh and Erin are now devoted parents of five children under the age of six—Justin, Mia, Maci, Jaxon and Leila. And while Josh is tirelessly seeking full-time employment, they have an immediate need for funds for living expenses, ongoing medical care for Erin and to find a place of their own where they can provide security for their children and a lower-stress environment. Erin’s long-term prognosis is unknown at this time, as SCAD is a little known and poorly understood type of heart condition; there is not a lot of research or long-term data on SCAD. She is unable to work short-term, as her heart is functioning at only 30% capacity.

We are requesting ongoing prayers for Erin, Josh and their new family to grant them patience, faith and strength. We’re also asking family and friends to consider giving a donation to help get this family established and secure.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and for any gift you may be able to give.
