Hello friends and family,
Erin and Amy are taking an "adventure" this December: to collect and retrieve inheritance furniture and goods from BOTH Virginia and Louisiana. Erin has been putting this off for years. Team Erin/Amy has decided to make this as much of an "adventure" as we can and visit some family along the way.
The plan (at the moment) is to fly into Houston/Louisiana first and visit Amy's family there, then collect items from Monroe, Lousiana in the first leg of our inheritance collection journey.
Next is the healthy 16-hour drive (with an overnight stop along the way...) to Virginia/NC where we will visit Erin's family, especially baby Jacob, who we haven't met yet!
Next stop (in Norfolk, VA) is to collect items from storage. But the journey is not over yet, folks. After Norfolk, we pass GO (but sadly, NOT "collecting $200") we have the 17+ hour drive back to Chicago (which we will also break up with an overnight stop).
I'm gonna be honest, this is not our dream winter vacation. It will be tiring and stressful, and won't necessarily be fun and we won't get to see as many people as we'd like to see these holidays, which is super sad for both of us. But the timely necessity of both trips has become prominent. We're trying to re-frame this as a road trip to visit family.
Unfortunately, we're broke. We knew 2018 was going to be an expensive year because of the joyful wedding experience (yay Kerry and David!) and Erin's rank promotion. Those were planned. Added to them were two out-of-state funerals and vet bills for Clay, which were unplanned. We made all of these trips in 2018 together because we're a team that supports each other, and that contributed to the expenses. So now our savings is gone.
This trip is going to be expensive. Ironically, doing them both back-to back is cheaper than doing them separately. But it will still be in the ballpark of $1500+ by our estimates, which is not something we can afford. So we're asking loved ones in our life to help us make this trip. In lieu of Christmas gifts, please consider supporting us in this trip by donating to our GoFundMe page.
Love and hugs,
Erin and Amy
