Hello friends and family! Thank you for your support as we begin our adoption journey.

We are the Chamberlins and we live just outside Charlotte, NC. We have always had the desire to adopt and bring kids into our home. We have begun the adoption process to grow our family and have finalized our home study to adopt. We are currently working with an adoption consultant at A Step Ahead Adoption, who will help match us with adoption agencies across the country and will guide us through every step of the process.

You may or may not know that private domestic adoptions can cost anywhere from $40,000 to $70,000 (usually around $45,000 - $55,000 on average). These costs include consultant fees, agency fees, home study fees (pre- and post-placement), attorney fees, medical and living expenses of the birth mother, and travel expenses. While we have the means to financially support and care for our child once they're here, and we have been increasing our savings over the past several years, the reality is there is a substantial amount of money needed up front to bring our child home. Every donation will help cover that upfront cost and secure our family's financial future.

A little about us

We met in New York City in February 2018. Erik had lived in the city for six years, but Mauricio had practically just stepped off the plane when we connected on a dating app. We hit it off immediately and started seeing each other at least once a week. We enjoyed many awesome dates around the city and met each other’s friends over the course of that year.

Exactly one year after our first date, Erik proposed to Mauricio. Erik knew that Mauricio was "the one" from early on, but waited until our first anniversary to make it official. We were legally married in New York City in April 2019, and we held a ceremony and reception with family and friends in July 2021. We have settled in the Charlotte area with our two cats, Walter and Willow, and we are thrilled to take the next step in expanding our family through adoption!
