Eric's Pumpkin Pie Project for First Responders on Duty

Donation protected
My name is Eric, and I love to bake pumpkin pies each Fall for the holidays. Over the past 5-10 years or so I've started to sell or donate pies to others because I like to share the goodness. My pies are made with love, and Keebler graham cracker crusts for added goodness.

In May 2021, our son Tony was inadvertently born at home (he joined us at 4:07am, as we didn't have time to make it to the hospital - 35 mins from walking up to birth). We had called 911 for help at 4:02am when she went into labor, and our boy Tony still rushed into this world beating the response time of our local first responders as they arrived about 4:09am. My wife, and I, delivered Tony ourselves with the verbal aide of the 911 dispatcher over the phone. A few minutes later there were no less than 9 first responders in my living room and front bathroom tending to my wife and son. When we were ready for transport to the local hospital, I asked the fire fighters leaving how I could find them again (as I intended to thank them for their response and service at a later time.) "Station 18, Bravo crew," one replied.

When the fall season came around a few months later, just before Thanksgiving, I had to notion to bake a couple of pies and bring them over to the station. So I did. Middle of the pandemic, on Thanksgiving Day, I went over to Station 18 with a couple of pies and some Cool Whip to drop off. Two of the firefighters on duty answered my knock on the door. I asked, "I know it's the pandemic, but can you take outside food offers?" One looked at the other and then looked at me and goes, "Do you see anything about this guy that says he wont eat pie?" I gladly handed the pies over to be consumed.

In 2023, I made 4 pies, and donated them to 2 fire stations, Station 18, and Station 27. In 2024, I made 8 pies and donated them to Stations 18, 27, 35, and 37. My goal for this year is to make 24 pies and donate them to 12 local fire stations in the South San Jose, and Campbell area. So I'm reaching out to others that may want to be part of supporting something that I'm trying to grow into a larger impact. Giving back a little sweetness to first responders when they are on duty, supporting those who are serving away from their families just in case they are called out to help others.

Money raised is to buy the supplies that I have typically just self-funded, pumpkin, pie shells, eggs, sugar, evaporated milk, and some Cool Whip. Last year, I bought a big batch of spices from Restaurant Depot, so I'm good on those for a couple seasons.
