Erica's Journey to Regain Custody of Her Daughter

Hi, my name is Erica. I live in East Tennessee and I’m currently trying to get my daughter back after being apart for four years.

In 2019, I struggled with my mental health and in order to get better, my parents had me sign a guardianship. Unknown to me, they had alternative plans. With the guardianship, they have taken my parental rights away along with my daughter. They currently reside between Michigan and Colorado, making it almost impossible for me to receive visitation. They have limited my contact and have told several lies to my daughter and to the court system, making our relationship strained.

I’m currently in the process of getting my daughter back, but unfortunately, it has become financially difficult. I have a full-time job, an apartment for myself and my daughter, and I’m stable. I have been proactive with my mental health and currently go to therapy. My parents are trying to drain my account in exchange for my child and I would give up the world to get her back.
