My name is Gracia Bvute, representing Pot Tradition & PaBvute Gourmet
Our Vision: Preserving Heritage, Empowering Women
The African Heritage Village is a pioneering 1-acre cultural and economic hub designed to preserve Zimbabwe's rich traditional arts, empower rural women and young girls (especially teenage mothers), and establish a sustainable 'farm-to-table' supply chain for authentic gourmet cuisine.
This is more than a construction project; it’s a vision to create a self-sufficient village that acts as a premier destination for cultural immersion, a centre for traditional craft—like the ancient Pottery Tradition—and a specialised culinary school. At its core, the village is a foundation for economic independence, giving women the skills and resources to thrive.
As the founder of Pabvute Gourmet Catering, I’ve seen the immense demand for authentic African experiences and ingredients. This village is the vital next step: a place where our culture is celebrated, where every ingredient is traceable, and where every dollar directly supports the hands that cultivate and create. We are building a model for cultural preservation that is sustainable, scalable, and impactful.
From the vibrant, earthy tones of traditional pots to the rich flavours of heirloom crops, this project will take audiences on an immersive journey into the authentic heart of Zimbabwean heritage. Beyond the beauty, it will confront real issues: rural poverty, lack of opportunity for young women, and the urgent need to preserve threatened traditional skills.
Our Team:
Gracia Bvute - Campaign Lead
At the heart of this campaign is Gracia Bvute, a Zimbabwean entrepreneur and chef dedicated to humanitarian progress. By founding PaBvute Gourmet and the Pot Tradition initiative, she has created a platform where the celebration of culture meets the urgency of social change.
Chipo Chitemere- Lead artisan
Serving as the Lead Artisan for the clay pot initiative, this matriarch brings decades of mastery to her craft. As a dedicated mother of eight and grandmother of five, she embodies the project’s mission by transforming traditional heritage into a sustainable livelihood for her family and community.
Financing: Building the African Heritage Village
We’re looking to raise $50,000 USD to secure the land lease, initial infrastructure, and essential equipment needed to launch the African Heritage Village.
We are currently engaging with the Government of Zimbabwe and private landowners for a 1-acre land allocation, which will be the secure home for this project. This GoFundMe campaign is critical to unlocking the next phase of development once the land is secured.
This campaign will provide the foundational budget needed to begin operations—covering everything from the initial water reticulation and fencing to the construction of the essential Pottery Workshop and Culinary School hub.
Budget Breakdown:
Total Launch Budget Target: $50,000 USD
| What this Campaign will Cover | Cost (USD) | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Farming & Infrastructure | $15,000 | Initial borehole drilling, irrigation setup, and essential 1- acre perimeter fencing for security. |
| Production Hub | $12,500 | Construction of the Pottery Workshop, Kiln, drying area, and secure storage for crafts. |
| Culinary School Setup | $10,000 | Essential kitchen equipment and classroom fit-out for the Cooking Classes. |
| Cultural Village Huts | $7,500 | Construction of 2 initial traditional thatched huts for demonstrations. |
| Operational Contingency | $5,000 | Permits, initial staffing stipends, and buffer for unexpected construction costs. |
What Your Contributions Will Support:
* Empowering Local Women: Funding the workspace and training programs for women to become skilled artisans and teachers.
* Infrastructure for Sustainability: Providing reliable water access (borehole) and fencing to secure the farm-to-table supply chain.
* Preserving the Pot Tradition: Securing the materials and space to teach and practice traditional earthenware pottery, creating a viable market for the craft.
* Creating a Heritage Destination: Building the foundational structures to host tourists and generate sustainable, long-term revenue.
Impact: Economic Empowerment and Cultural Preservation
The African Heritage Village is an engine for change. It is establishing a commercially viable, integrated model that addresses economic challenges in rural communities and preserves cultural heritage simultaneously.
By supporting the African Heritage Village, you’re not just funding a business; you’re investing in self-sufficiency, economic empowerment, and cultural dignity.
Your Donation Means:
* Direct Support for Rural Women: Creating a secure income stream and specialised skills (pottery, farming, culinary arts) for young girls and women, especially teenage mothers, who face significant barriers to employment.
* A Sustainable Supply Chain: Guaranteeing a reliable, organic, and authentic supply of traditional crops for Pabvute Gourmet Catering, elevating a local business and driving demand for heritage ingredients.
* Preserving Zimbabwean Arts: Ensuring the survival of the Pottery Tradition and other heritage skills by turning them into a high-value educational and tourism product.
* Building a Model for Africa: Establishing a blueprint for how cultural tourism, sustainable agriculture, and social impact can be seamlessly integrated to create a resilient local economy.
Risks & Challenges:
The primary challenges involve securing the ideal land parcel and navigating the logistics of initial construction. We have mitigated these by actively engaging government and private partners, seeking a partnership or land allocation to secure the site. Our operational plan is phased, meaning that as soon as the land is secured, your funding ensures we can immediately break ground on the most essential infrastructure (borehole and fencing) to mitigate water access and security risks. The project's strength lies in its multiple, resilient revenue streams—tourism, B2B supply, craft sales, and education—which will ensure its long-term financial viability once the initial infrastructure is in place.
This is more than a project; it’s an invitation to help secure the future of Zimbabwean heritage and empower a generation of women to build their own sustainable livelihoods. EVEN $1 makes a huge impact
