With companies matching social justice donations employees are crowdsourcing to increase contributions
Heya friends, Andy LeMay and Ned Wright here. A friend heard this story on MPR this morning and asked, "Hey, can't you do this too since you also work for Adobe?" Well, we can so we are.
Adobe is matching all employee donation to the Equal Justice Initiative at 2-1 rate. That means, Adobe will donate 2$ to every $1 we donate. We're asking you to help us raise $60,000 for EIJ. If we can raise $20,000, Adobe will match our donations with their own $40,000.
Here's how it will work: Once we hit the $20,000* mark, we will donate all of the funds raised here directly to the Equal Justice Initiative. We will share the receipt of the donation with you all and with Adobe. Once our employer has made its match, we will have raised $60,000 for "ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society" (Equal Justice Initiative's About section).
*Why only $20,000? Adobe's max match is $10,000 per employee.
*Special thanks to Katy Comford for the call to action, Andre Martin Johnson Jr for leading the way, and to Adobe for their generosity!
