Growing Minneapolis

The Family Tree initiative is a local tree-planting project implemented to address the existential threat of climate change. It is an ecological urban forestry campaign designed to demonstrate and facilitate our commitment to reducing global warming while building community solidarity and civic pride. The future is now and it is time to begin healing the planet starting right here in our own backyard by embarking on a massive reforestation effort in honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. This project's aim is to restore the urban forest canopy that has been drastically reduced within the last century.  
The seed money raised from this kick-starter campaign will go towards launching the initiative on Earth Day, April 22, 2020. The funds raised will be used for obtaining trees and seedlings and purchasing the building materials and supplies required for constructing 5 gravel bed tree farms to be located in North Minneapolis. We intend to continue this beautiful urban forestry expansion project far and beyond just Earth Day and far and beyond North Minneapolis. The power is in our hands and we intend to make a major impact on the carbon footprint of Minneapolis by implementing a 2020 summer of greening.

"The Family Tree" is a collaboration of local nonprofits, environmental agencies, faith-based communities, and other engaged stakeholders. Join us as we honor the earth/honor our ancestors/honor our elders. United We Green-Divided We Fail.
