Eoin Naughten SII Tall Ships Challenge 2022
Donation protected
Whats this all about?
In March 2023 I will be assisting Spinal Injuries Ireland aboard the specially adapted Tall Ship the SV Tenacious.
What is SV Tenacious?
The ship was built by the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) and, along with the STS Lord Nelson, the pair are the only tall ships in the world that were built so that both disabled and non-disabled people can sail as crew, not passengers. Everyone plays a full and active role in the voyage.
Click here for more information on the accessibility of Tenacious. Read more about Tenacious’ story here.
Spinal Injuries Ireland has commissioned the SV Tenacious Tall Ship to lead a crew of 35 people of all abilities on the voyage. We will sail from Antigua around the nearby isles before returning to Antigua and flying back home to Dublin.
Our crew shall comprise eight people with a spinal cord injury, their assistants, and 19 further people from all backgrounds and abilities.
What will I be doing to raise money?
As part of the fund raising I will be doing my very own cold water advent calendar from December 1st to Christmas day, with the final swim at Clontarf Yacht club (no matter what the weather is doing.)
But Eoin arent you relentlessly posting about swimming every day anyway?
Yes, but I dont think you realise how f****** cold its gotten or will get by Dec 25th!
I will post incessantly every day in December with proof and will not take any shortcuts!
PLEASE GOD, LET THERE BE VERY FEW STORMS IN DECEMBER.
Here's where I need your help!
My goal for the cold weather advent calendar is to raise at least €1,000 of which 100% of the money will go to Spinal Injuries Ireland as part of our fundraising towards the Sailing challenge 2022.
