Hi, my name is Michaela after having to leave my teaching career I’m a now a full-time mam to my beautiful little boy Enzo.
Enzo is autistic, non-verbal and has severe learning difficulties with a significant developmental delay. He is also extremely vulnerable and has very little awareness of danger, which means he needs constant supervision to keep him safe every moment of the day.
He sees and experiences the world very differently — and while he is the most loving, funny and incredible little boy, the world isn’t built for children like him.
Our Daily Reality
Simple things that many families take for granted can be overwhelming for Enzo.
Noise, crowds, unfamiliar places, changes in routine and even new sleeping environments can cause extreme anxiety and sensory overload.
This can lead to:
Meltdowns when everything becomes too much
Running or bolting because he doesn’t understand danger
Complete exhaustion from trying to cope
Not being able to settle or sleep in new places
Because of this, days out, holidays or even short trips are often impossible for us.
We don’t have a safe space to take with us when things become too overwhelming.
Why A Campervan Would Change Everything
We are hoping to raise funds towards a small campervan that would become Enzo’s sensory-safe space on wheels — his familiar, secure environment wherever we go.
This would mean:
✨ A calm, safe place during meltdowns instead of having to leave and go home
✨ Somewhere he can regulate with his own things around him
✨ A proper place for him to sleep so we aren’t forced to cut trips short
✨ A safe space if he becomes overwhelmed in public
✨ Keeping his routine wherever we are
✨ Not relying on hotels or unfamiliar environments that he cannot cope with
✨ Being able to lock doors and keep him safe from running off
For the first time, we would be able to go out and explore knowing Enzo has somewhere secure and familiar.
Why This Means So Much
As a single mam, this is something I could never afford on my own.
But more than anything, I want to give Enzo the chance to experience joy in a way that works for him — not against him.
To feel the sea air.
To watch the trees and the lights.
To have little adventures.
To make memories while he is still young.
Right now our world is very small, because it has to be for his safety.
This would open the world to him in a way that is safe.
How You Can Help
Any support — whether that’s a donation or simply sharing our story — would mean everything to us.
You’re not just helping us get a vehicle.
You’re helping us create:
A safe space
A way to regulate
A place to sleep
A chance to explore
A world that Enzo can access
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for being part of Enzo’s Adventures
