Environmental Eagle Project at King Gillette Ranch

Hello! My name is Luca Clarke and I am a Life Scout in Troop 22. For my Eagle Project, I am planning to build and install 2 duck ramps and 3 owl boxes at King Gillette Ranch.

There are two islands in the beautiful pond at the ranch where ducks lay their eggs. When the baby ducks hatch they waddle off the island and oftentimes have trouble getting back up the steep slope of the island and can easily drown. I will build a ramp on each of these islands to allow baby ducks to go to and from the islands with ease!

The owl boxes will give owls a place to nest which will encourage more owls to live at the Ranch. This will help lessen the rodent problem and the use of gopher traps and just make the ranch a nicer place to visit.
