Hi, Alexandra again and this time I'm hosting a fundraiser for NDG Food Not Bombs. This group has been doing free vegetarian lunch every Saturday afternoon at Place Charles-Est (corner of Sherbrooke and Madison) for the last several weeks this summer, and they need financial support to ensure continued meal services.

All the food is cooked fresh by volunteers in a local church kitchen, and then transported to Place Charles-Est for all to enjoy. Beyond just food, NDG Food Not Bombs is developing into a kind of community hub for like-minded residents to share their thoughts on what our society could do with all the money that currently gets spent on warfare. We are residents in favour of de-arming, in favour of peace, and in favour of a society where nobody is left to go hungry. NDG Food Not Bombs also provides free N95 masks and Covid rapid tests, as well as harm reduction supplies like naloxone kits, and makes themselves available to help people update their Covid safety knowledge.

Costs go towards kitchen rental, adequate storage space for equipment, as well as other costs associated with cooking. While local gardens have been gifting their fresh produce to lower ingredient costs, NDG Food Not Bombs will have to start purchasing more fresh ingredients once winter comes.
