Hello, my name is Linda and my passion is reading, collecting, discussing and sharing books!
My belief is every child deserves access to books regardless of their background.
On a recent visit to Rwanda I visited a primary school in Nyamata called LIFE SCHOOL, which was founded in 2018 by brothers Eddy and Martin Kalisa.
Eddy and Martin were 7 and 4 years old respectively when they witnessed the brutal slaughtering of their parents, grandparents and siblings during the 1994 horrific Rwandan Genocide.
Eddy and Martin turned their lives around after many years in a loveless orphanage and ending up homeless - with the funding from generous benefactors they eventually obtained an education to degree level.
Now they want to give back to the
community.....
LIFE SCHOOL provides access to quality education for children who are refugees from The Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi, and also local Rwandan children. The school provides breakfast and lunch, and, follows the national curriculum - it receives no funding from the Rwandan government.
Where do I come in to the picture......the school has minimal resources and NO books.
My dream is to help Eddy and Martin create a school library where books are freely available to ALL children despite their background.
Please Donate. Join me in making a difference.
FROM EMPTY BOOK SHELVES TO ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
Kind Regards,
Linda Ann Robertson
