My name is Zoe and I am a senior at Northgate High School. I am making chemo care kits for breast cancer patients for my senior project. In these kits I want to put: lemon drops and gum to help with the bad taste chemo puts in their mouths; adult coloring books and colored pencils to help them relax; scarves as a comfort item; hand sanitizer; anti-bacterial wipes; lip balm to help with the dry lips; lotion; tissue packs; and a handmade card to top them off.
Like way too many people, this terrible disease has affected my family, but my mom (2x breast cancer survivor!) was lucky enough to have a great support system of family and friends. I want to make these kits for women who maybe don't have as great of a support system. My sister did a similar project two years ago and donated about 10 baskets to my mom's oncologist. She said they brought tears to patients eyes. I hope to bring that joy to more women with a goal of 30 kits.
I am planning on making the kits in April so I am hoping to reach my goal of $500 by the end of March. I would be so thankful for any contribution to help brighten the days of these breast cancer patients.
