Hello, My name is Joey Marano. I am the president of Wright State's chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) and am a first-year student at sophomore standing studying mechanical engineering. EWB-WSU is a part of an international organization that volunteers in both local and international communities to help improve the quality of life for many people. This year, EWB is taking a trip to Kabingo, Uganda to continue our mission of bringing the community to a place of self-sustainability. We have been working in Kabingo for 3 years and have built handwashing stations and latrines for St. Bakhita's Secondary School during that time. The goal of this trip is to determine our next steps and evaluate our previous projects, namely, instituting better washrooms for the community to use. Joining and participating in EWB, an organization that combines my passion for both engineering and helping others, is more than I could have ever asked for at Wright State. However, the expenses for the trip are costly, especially for a full-time college student with other responsibilities and leadership positions on and off-campus. Your support would be greatly appreciated in helping me achieve my goal of helping the students in Kabingo while gaining hands-on engineering experience that I can use to further my career.
