On Saturday, during this year's Memorial Day Weekend, Yesenia Mata and I will be running Staten Island from end-to-end to honor essential workers, especially those service members helping in the COVID-19 relief effort. Both of us are soldiers in the U.S. Army Reserve so we want to ensure that all essential workers are thanked for their service.

The run will start in St. George and ending in Tottenville — a distance of approximately 20 miles! 

Essential workers, like soldiers in the National Guard, nurses, day laborers, first responders and those in transit, warehouse, retail, restaurants, and telecommunications have been on the frontlines of the crisis and have kept our city, state, and country running.
