Endless Pawsibilities for Kashlyn

Kashlyn is a 4-year old with multiple diagnosis. She had yet another diagnosis of moderate Autism. We kind of always knew but now we have the official diagnosis. On top of Autism she was also diagnosed with Bilateral Optic Nerve Hypoplasia when she was 5 months old. Which was then later upgraded to Septo-Optic Dysplasia. Which means she has under developed optic nerves, neural Hypothesis,
an absent septum pellucidum, and an absent posterior pituitary gland. She also has nystagmus, esotropia, and periventricular nodular Heterotopia (PNH), and hypothyroidism. Its alot of diagnosises for a 4 year old.

Over the last 4 years many doctors have made predictions about Kashlyn's future but she has proven all of them wrong! She can see much more than I ever imagined and she walks, almost talks, and blesses so many lives. She's a smart, sweet and funny little girl with a heart of gold. She loves spinning, twinkle twinkle little star, the color Purple, and cuddling.

This little girl has an MRIs, ultrasounds, EEG's, sedated surgery for Botox injections in her eyes, Audiologists at Camrose, a sedated auditory Brainstem Assessment, clinics with Kitscoty Children's Rehabilitation Services, and ongoing bloodwork. Most appointments are within Edmonton as she has a whole team of specialists including opthamologist, endocrinologist, neurologist, pediatrician, dietician, and a whole feeding team at the Edmonton Stollery.  We also have a whole team in Lloydminster, including occupational therapist, speech therapist, 2 psychologists, pediatrician, and dietician.

We would like to bring a certified service dog into our home who will be specially trained to help Kashlyn walk more independently, prevent her from falling down stairs and hurting herself on other obstacles, and help create more social opportunities for her. She needs something that can help her regulate her emotions , and trained service dog is the best option.  I have found a service dog organization that trains dogs for Kashlyn's unique needs and the only thing standing in our way is money!

We are currently in the process of applying Aspen Service Dogs within Edmonton. The price of a service dog is $25000.  ANY amount you can give would be so appreciated!
